How to Install Granite Tile Countertops

There are certain steps in installing Granite countertops:

Firstly, wipe the cabinets with a wet cloth to make them free of any kind of debris and dust which would create hindrance in granite installations.

Secondly, check whether your cabinets are at level or not. Place a level on your cabinets to check it.

Ask for help in case of lifting a granite counter. Always carry the granite in a vertical order to avoid having any fractures in the stone. Use a level in order to check whether the countertop fits on the cabinets or not.

Then, remove any granite from counters. In the case of a granite counter of a bathroom, sink installation is a must to counter installation. Apply silicone adhesive to the sink and secure the granite counter in place.

After that, apply a thin layer of adhesive of silicone caulk on the rim of the cabinet for the granite to rest, lift it vertically and place it on cabinets.

And finally, in case of a kitchen counter, apply a thin bead of an adhesive at the underside of the sink to secure it in place.

Tip

Bathroom countertops can be installed by a single person, but kitchen countertops require assistance as they are much heavier.

Warning

Before installing your kitchen granite countertops, make sure your cabinets are aligned properly and no loose rims or cracks are there. The heavyweight of the granite countertop may damage the cabinets if they are not properly installed.
